The Kingsbere Room

The Kingsbere Room

Kingsbere was the name Thomas Hardy gave to the village of Bere Regis in his novels (Tess of the D'urbevilles, The Return of the Native.) Both the name and the room capture the aristocratic elegance of the English manor in the late 19th century. For the local historian, the armoire was purchased at a local estate sale, as was the Cival War era chest. (The chest contains written documents from the first owner.)
